Bio

Maria has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Lisbon and is currently pursuing her Master's in Organismal Biology and Evolution at the same institution. She is developing her thesis on spinal cord injury, focusing on how pericyte reprogramming contributes to scar formation and secondary injury cascades. Alongside her academic path, she has been involved in science communication, working as a monitor at Pavilhão do Conhecimento and coordinating communication projects at FCUL. Outside the lab, Maria enjoys summer days, the beach, nights out with friends, and can’t live without her morning iced latte.
